Age Spots

Age spots (also called liver spots) are oval, flat areas of increased pigmentation, when compared to the surrounding skin. Age spots are most often tan to dark brown, and are more likely to occur on skin that has had the most sun exposure over the years. The most common areas dermatologists treat for age spots include the back of the hands, tops of feet, face, shoulders and upper back. If you've noticed age spots, and would like to diminish their appearance, let your dermatologist know at your next appointment or consultation.
